Random Inanity

Well we have finally decided on a first name for our little baby girl.

Lara.

Yes like in Lara Croft. And I’m only saying that so you can pronounce it right. It would be no fun if we gave her a name easier to pronounce then mine ;-)

We’re still owrking on her middle name. It’ll be something chinese.

Lazy sods. Apparently some people can’t seem to find the baby pictures. Guess I should make the link on the menu bar bigger to the “Main Gallery“ which of course contains ALL my picture galleries ;-)

Guess I could have just posted a link to it directly. But that would be too easy.

I’ve uploaded all the baby photos we have now in the Baby Gallery. We’re planning on taking some more today.

Everything is fine. Baby is doing well and so is Kathy. Since kathy was basically stuck to the bed last night I ended up with all the diaper changes through the night.. I lost track how many that was.

Other then that life’s good. We’re getting pretty close on a name, well two really, first and middle. There’s a good pool for you guys to get into.. baby name pool ;-)

With the way everything is progressing I’m in high hopes that Kathy and baby will be released tomorrow and we’ll be able to finally escape the hospital.

Oh, almost forgot. Baby got her hearing test done this morning and passed with flying colours.

Welcome the newest member of the Tiampo family.

So my wife’s roommate was finally moved to labour delivery. Which is great, since yesterday we were told that the only reason I had to leave the room at night was that she had a roommate. So tonight I’m bunkering down to sleep when the nurse enters the room and asked what my plans where. I told her and she said no I had to leave. Apparently no one is allowed to stay except patients. The reason given was that there were other patients in the ward and they didn’t want people there since some where having dangerous pregancies.

Now here’s where I internally loose. (no point making a stink publically at this point) WTF!? They allow an unlimited number of people in there during the day. That’s more then plenty to be an issue. But one person staying in a different room is a problem. But see I’m allowed to stay in the waiting room, which is in the same hall, actually closer to some of these rooms then my wife’s.

You can’t have it both ways. Either people aren’t allowed in, or they are for this kind of thing. Kathy was really looking forward to having me in the room tonight. She broke down in tears when the nurse said I couldn’t stay. And of course Kathy isn’t supposed to leave and go home.

Fuck I hate hospitals.

We’re supposed to be back at the hospital at 5pm. kathy is starting to progress at a good rate, nothing too fast. I may or not be back again tonight. It’ll depend if we get a private room or not tonight. Looks good though since Kathy’s current roommate should be in the second level of indection and be off and onto delivery.

Side note, grabbed a new laptop at Costco today to fiddle on. Probably will return it in a few weeks. I’ll be looking into a perminant replacement.

Also got one of my fishtanks cleaned out today.. I’ve been putting off stripping it down and cleaning it completely for weeks.. figured I’m not going to get a chance any time soon so spent 3 hours today working on it.. it’s looking great now and I’ve put in the treatment it needed for bluegreen algae so hopefully it’ll be all good.

Updates will arrive when I am able.

So after the first day. Nothing. Well Kathy is progressing but we’re not close to anything like labour. Currently I’m sleeping at home since at this stage we don’t have a private room and they make everyone but the patients leave during the night. I’ll be returning first thing in the morning

As a side note. While whittling away the hours at the hospital I was burning old files to CDs to clean up some space so I could work on some video editing on my laptop when it had a critical kernal crash. During which I think the read head hit one of the drive platters cause now there’s a drive read error. Checked it out through some firmware diagnostics and it doesn’t look good. I’m pretty sure the drive is junk. Might be able to get a pro to recover some data, but I’m not sure. This means that I can either replace the drive or replace the laptop. It’s a work unit, so I’m thinking replace the whole thing and get myself a new toy ;-)

If tomorrow continues to be boring I’ll get back to some video stuff on my wife’s laptop. There’s no internet at the hospital so probably no more updates till I get a chance to get home again, which if all goes well will be with new baby too.

Course inducements can take days to actually get going, so the wife and I may be home tomorrow night sans kiddlette. I’ll let you all know.
